Transfer Day...

Image
Today is the day!!! We woke up about 5am California time and 8pm Florida time. We waited for a hotel breakfast and had some yummy biscuits and gravy and some lucky pineapple. Then we decided to go to La Jolla Cove and wake up with the sea lions. We found this place when we were out here a few months ago for medical screening and it is so pretty! We watched the sunrise and the sea lions surf the waves for about an hour then we drove around and got Blaise some coffee before heading to my acupuncture appointment that was right next to the fertility clinic. I was a little nervous about the acupuncture but it was so wonderful. The lady was super nice and the room was so warm and cozy! She put some small thin needles in my shoulders, hands, belly, legs, and feet and I was able to sit and relax for 30-40 minutes and even fell asleep towards the end. When she came back in she said a little prayer and gave me a mini massage on my shoulders and feet. She said, “ my uterus is prepared and ready f

Today,  we came out to San Diego for the day I’ve been waiting for!!! TRANSFER DAY!!! 🍍 Traveled on the most traveled day of the year! We arrived around 2:00pm and after we got our rental car heading to the historic old town. It’s was a cute Mexican town and we ate at Miguel’s Concina and had some of the best Mexican food! We walked to the town and shops and then headed to a local grocery store for some snacks before heading to our hotel. Tomorrow, we will have to rest after the transfer so we wanted to grab a few things for the room. We had fun walking around the grocery store. They had an amazing bakery, meat department, cheese department and so much more. We were in bed by 9pm our time - 6pm California time.   Tomorrow, I will receive the most amazing gift, I get the privilege to grow a tiny human for the most amazing and deserving couple. This journey is seriously life-changing!!! When you connect and bond with people you’ve only known for a few short months, great things w

1st shot...

Well, it’s Wednesday 11/21 day of my first progesterone shot. So, I figured I’d share how it went! I watched the video and instructions about 10 times today and looked up some tips to make it go smooth. On our surrogacy FB page, a lot of women shared that warming up the oil in the vial helps a lot because the oil is very thick heating it makes it go in a little easier. Some women also shared taking the weight off the foot/side you are administrating the shot on help, rubbing the area afterward helps the meds get into the muscle and not causing lumps, and also applying a heating pad afterward helps a lot too. I’ll be doing these shots every night until 12 weeks of pregnancy. Tonight’s shot needed to be right at 9pm and then from here on out I will have a 2-hour window between 7-9pm each night. I started preparing the area and things around 8! Lol, We even made a video for my IPs to watch! Sarah did awesome, I didn’t feel a thing however, I’m sure it will be short-lived as my backside wi

We passed...

This morning I went for my second lining check to see how things were looking and if my lining had thickened and become optimal for a transfer! The ultrasound looked great, the lining was a 12.2 and the nurse said I was triple striped. Meaning, I had three layers/lines that are crucial to have in order to transfer. I went home and started to enjoy thanksgiving break, trying hard to put it out of my mind while we wait for the official word from San Diego to see if we passed early and can transfer next Monday! Around 5pm we got our official email and green light that everything looked good and we could officially transfer on 11/26. It was such a relief and so exciting to finally start moving forward! Now, that we passed we add more medications to our regimen. On Wednesday, 11/21 I will start the progesterone shots. This is the one thing that I’ve been a little nervous about. I don’t mind needles or shots but the needle is very long and imitating and jabbing in like a dart is what freak

Round 2...

It feels like it's taken us a while to get here but we have finally re-started a new cycle and I had my first baseline this morning. It was a longer ultrasound and a little more uncomfortable as I had started my period yesterday. However, the Dr. and nurse both said everything looked really good and quiet and said my lining was a 7. Around 5pm we got an email from our nurse in San Diego and she also confirmed that everything looks good and tomorrow I will start adding estrogen again to thicken the lining more. Hopefully, this time around we will get the nice crisp 3 lined lining that they are looking for in order to transfer. My calendar is a little different this time than it was last month so my next appointment will not be until 11/19. If everything looks good at this appointment they will pass me early and we will transfer the following Monday. Fingers crossed!!!!
